World Bank Fragility Forum 2026 to Convene Global Leaders as Conflict and Poverty Risks Intensify

The World Bank Group is organizing its biannual Fragility Forum 2026 (FF2026) to tackle the intensifying issues of global volatility, spreading poverty, and rising violence. This significant international event will focus on providing support and solutions for nations navigating fragility and conflict.

Scheduled to take place from June 8 to June 10, 2026, the three-day forum will be held in a hybrid format, combining in-person participation with a broad virtual audience. The event is expected to draw policymakers, development experts, humanitarian actors, private sector leaders, and civil society representatives from across the globe.

A Critical Moment for Global Development

The forum comes at a pivotal time. Fragility, conflict, and violence (FCV) are increasingly shaping the global development landscape. In 2024, for the first time, more than half of the world’s extreme poor were living in FCV-affected countries, a trend that threatens to reverse decades of progress in poverty reduction by 2030.

This shifting reality has prompted the World Bank Group to refresh its FCV Strategy, placing greater emphasis on anticipating risks, tailoring interventions, and strengthening job creation in fragile environments. Fragility Forum 2026 is designed to translate these priorities into coordinated global action.

Objectives and Participation

FF2026 aims to align global actors working in fragile settings by fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and advancing practical solutions. Participants include:

  • Senior World Bank officials and multilateral institutions
  • Government representatives from FCV-affected countries
  • Donor agencies and UN organizations
  • Civil society groups and NGOs
  • Academic experts and practitioners
  • Private sector leaders and investors

This diverse participation reflects the complexity of FCV challenges and the need for integrated responses.

Core Themes

The forum is structured around three strategic priorities:

  • Jobs and Livelihoods in FCV
  • Anticipating Better (risk prediction and prevention)
  • Adopting a Differentiated Approach (context-specific engagement)

Additional cross-cutting issues include displacement, gender, climate change, justice, and organized violence.
